Question: I wonder if you could give me some information (or pass me on to someone that can) about running an online live casino from Vietnam.
I understand that Vietnamese citizens cannot gamble by law but this website will not be accessible by people in Vietnam and will not be marketed in Vietnam. The only actual part in Vietnam is the office which has the gaming tables and the staff running the tables 24 hours a day. There is no cash or chips or customers in the Vietnam office as everything else is online.
The software to run the company will be leased from a company based in the foreign country.
I would appreciate any advice you could give on this matter.
Answer: Under Vietnam Law, the enterprise providing Online games must not involve with:
- Online games inciting the people to oppose against the State
- Online games provoking violence, spreading propaganda about wars, arousing obscenity, debauchery and crime
- Online games disclosing state secrets, defense, security, economic and foreign relations secrets
- Online game services or acting as online game service-providing agents in Vietnam without permission.
Thus, in this case, the activities as mentioned in your email shall be at high risk of being prohibited.
If you wish to setup an office in Vietnam for running the plan, you must obtain special approval from National Assembly of Vietnam.
