On November 16, 2018, the Government issues the Decree No. 157/2018/ND-CP providing for region-based minimum wages applied to employees working under labor contracts.
Accordingly, from January 01, 2019, the region-based minimum wages are specified as follows:
– VND 4,180,000/month, for enterprises operating in localities of region I;
– VND 3,710,000/month, for enterprises operating in localities of region II;
– VND 3,250,000/month, for enterprises operating in localities of region III;
– VND 2,920,000/month, for enterprises operating in localities of region IV.
The region-based minimum wages increase from VND 160,000/month – VND 200,000/month, compared with that of the last year.
The region-based minimum wages are the lowest wage levels which serve as a basis for enterprises and employees to reach agreement on and pay wages. The wages paid to employees who perform jobs which must be performed by trained employees shall be at least 7% higher than the above region-based minimum wage.
This Decree takes effect on January 01, 2019
